Since I finished reading these two poetry collections I wanted to put together the verses that captured me the most. With Louise Glück it was love at first sight, the kind that marks you forever and you can't forget. Her poetry is intense in its simplicity. I like her focus on the female figures of Greek myths, putting herself in their shoes, telling us the story from their point of view, thus also bringing out new interpretations of the classic myths.

In these two collections the main focus is the myth of Hades and Persephone, in Averno, and Orpheus and Eurydice, in Vita Nova. And if you've been here for a while, you know very well that these are two of my favorite myths.

So my falling in love was already written, destined, inevitable.

I always had a hard time reviewing poetry, because it is so personal to the author, even when she talks about other characters, as in this case, there is always that passage, wording, or imagery that makes you well aware that you are getting in touch wit…
